Back Pack Program

Wills Point participates in the Back Pack Program; sending students in need home on the weekends with a bag of self-preparable food.

The Wills Point Backpack Program is providing meals to students that may otherwise be "food insecure."  These students have meals available for them while they are at school, but there may not be much food at home.  Students are identified by teachers or other staff members and brought to the attention of the Backpack Coordinator.  The Backpack Coordinator sends home a permission form with the student so that the parents are aware of the availability of the extra food.  The backpacks are sent home on Fridays with the students and usually contain small meals that do not require extra preparation (the meals can be eaten without being heated).  Most of the food is purchased from the East Texas Food Bank.  The Backpack Programs in Wills Point are funded by the community and grants from local businesses such as Trinity Valley Electric Cooperative Round-Up Program.  There are currently Backpack Programs available on the Primary, Intermediate, Middle School, and Junior High campuses.

Please contact the campus if you family is in need of this program.
